Elaine (Jan) Wright Hawkes

I married Richard Hawkes (NHS, '63) in 1965, had two daughters, then finally went to college at the age of 30, received my BS and MS, and taught high school business courses for several years. I managed my family's printing business before returning to education as a high school principal in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Upon both my husband and I receiving a cancer diagnosis in 2001 and 2002, we decided to "smell the roses" and retire to Arizona. We been blessed to have lived in an active (and I mean active) retirement community (Sun Lakes) for 20 years and absolutely love every precious day here in paradise. We play golf, travel, party with our many friends, and are very involved in our community politics. Life is good!
