I will never forget Kathy Mone.  Her beautiful, long red hair.  Her freckled face, always cheerful.  She was smart and very talented on the violin.  I was very impressed.  She and I would walk home from school sometimes together.  I loved the little house she lived in, set way back from the street.  Funny how I knew so little about her but will always remember her.

Kathy was a dear friend. At our 25th reunion my husband and I sat with her and Bob and I remember her saying that she would be just fine. This was after her first cancer operation. She died on December 26, 1990 from a recurrance of that cancer. After her death her mother Lucille sent my mother a long letter and included a ten page letter handwritten by Kathy telling about her life and giving instructions for her funeral. I still have that letter and think of her often.

I remember Kathy well. Her bright cheerful smile, long red hair and all those freckles. There was a group of us that usually ate lunch together in the "old cafeteria" . She was so funny and always friendly to everyone.

Since Kathy and my last names both started with M we were seated together in numerous classes, study halls, and senior homeroom.  I loved Kathy's sense of humor.  We shared so many laughs over those high school years.  Of course, she was also very smart, which added to her humor and talented in music.  I thought of her this weekend at the reunion and wished she was there.
