Geri died of cancer in 2004 in New York City. She had lived there as an art designer for many years and had a daughter that also lived in NYC. I spoke with Geri on the phone shortly after 9-11 because I had known her office/studio was located in the Twin Towers. She was in Tower 2 when the plane hit, but her office was on one of the lower floors and she escaped without injury, but lost friends and her office. She sounded well and happy when we talked, and she mentioned that she was a cancer survivor, so I was surprised to hear the cancer returned shortly after and she died in 2004. Bill and I drove by her old home on 56th between Spaulding and Sprague when we were driving through the old neighborhoods last weekend. I can remember her big front porch and a few slumber parties and sleep overs. Her dear hard-working widowed mother was always pleased to have the girls over. I wish I could have seen her again.
